In the Western Gate Visitor Center of the Bükk National Park Directorate in Felsőtárkány, visitors can observe the flora and fauna of the Bükk National Park through the interactive elements of the exhibition “Karst and its living world”, many times playfully, and they can also learn about the geological formation of the mountain.
Acquisition of knowledge is helped by touch-screen devices, tasks and games, together with the elements of the show presented earlier. With the help of dioramas, following the changes of seasons, we show parts of the Bükk Virgin Forest and of the Great Field, the karst phenomena, the habitats characteristic in the Bükk. The reconstruction of the prehistoric man’s cave shows how the Bükk prehistoric man used the karst caves in the Bükk as a living place.
The visitor center is also a place of temporary exhibitions about nature, nature conservation activity, photos and other works of art in connection with the Bükk National Park. At the reception you can get information about the areas that can be visited in the national park, sights and programs of towns and villages in the Bükk, and you can also buy publications and souvenirs there.
