
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Members of the European Geoparks, a regional network of UNESCO Global Geoparks, commemorate the geological heritage of our old continent every year in late spring and early summer, to which the Ipolytarnóc Relics, which were declared protected 81 years ago, will also join between May 24 and June 9, 2025. The manager of the area, the Bükki National Park Directorate, decided that the Novohrad-Nógrád Geopark residents are being offered discounted admission in honor of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of UNESCO Global Geoparks. From the beginning of Geopark Week until the end of the year, geopark residents can participate in guided tours on the world-famous Geological Educational Trail with a professional ticket (500 HUF/person).
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of UNESCO Global Geoparks, and the Slovak-Hungarian, cross-border Novohrad-Nógrád Geopark is also celebrating this. The significant event is related to the fact that the Geopark's paleontological center, the Ipolytarnóc Fossil Visitor Center, managed by the Bükk National Park Directorate, was selected among the best, and a news from the UNESCO exhibition in Venice also commemorates this.
It is very important that the people living in the Geopark are proud of their unique natural and cultural heritage and are encouraged to learn about and preserve them. To facilitate all this, the Bükk National Park Directorate, as the most important manager of the natural heritage of the transnational geopark, will organize a European Global Geopark Week from the opening day of 2025. has introduced an extraordinary discount starting from May 24th until the end of the year.
From this day on, residents of the geopark settlements can visit the world-famous Geological Trail in Ipolytarnóc with the current professional ticket during opening hours upon presenting a valid document proving their address. The discount is valid for residents of the cross-border geopark Slovak and Hungarian settlements, provided that they can present their valid card proving their address when purchasing a ticket!

The Bükk National Park Directorate will be hosting the The Bükk Region UNESCO Global Geopark is also offering a discount to residents of the area in connection with its 10th anniversary. At the Szeleta Park Visitor Center, residents of the local geopark settlements can view the exhibitions with a 50% discount.
