
As a finale to the Easter holidays, on April 22, the Bükk National Park Directorate invites its visitors to the Ipolytarnóc Fossils with a special program. In connection with Earth Day, the 10th anniversary of UNESCO Global Geoparks is also commemorated at the paleontological center of the Novohrad–Nógrád UNESCO Global Geopark.
The gateway to the transnational Paloc Geopark, which is a member of the Global Geoparks Network (GGN), which is celebrating its 21st anniversary, joins the international series of celebrations held in honor of Earth Day and the geoparks associated with it, which preserve the geological heritage of our planet.
The result of the GGN special program series, which brings together the UNESCO Global Geoparks of our Earth, is expected to be announced by the end of May 2025. As a preview of this, the Miocene roaming program will focus on the stories told by the stones at the Ipolytarnoc Geosite.
On April 22nd, the guided, thematic tour starting at 11:45 AM from the Ősfenyő Entrance Reception Building will include the topics of the geohistorical events and the geoparks interpreting their memory in connection with former volcanic disasters, in addition to the geological educational trail. As an extraordinary discount, for those who register in advance the time travel 3D movie projected in the reception building will be included in the service. This significant day is also commemorated during geological guided tours. The celebration of the Memory of our Earth and Geoparks is also held in the other two UNESCO Global Geoparks of our country, the Bakony–Balaton and the Bükk-region Geoparks; it is worth visiting their websites.
