Easter Programs at the Ipolytarnoc Fossils

The Miocene Park is the geotourism center of the Bükk National Park Directorate and the Novohrad-Nograd UNESCO Global Geopark. In the shadow of the pandemic and war tensions it is preparing a complex program cavalcade for the 4-day Easter to celebrate redemption and the spring revival.

On April 15, starting at 11 a.m. the 4-day series of events will open at the Tuzson Tower of the Canopy Trail with an introduction to the egg-laying bird world. The Easter bunny is said to have pre-registered for the program, although the bunny eggs will only be on the palette later. (We hope that in the meantime the bunny eggs will be actually laid by the bunny herself and not stolen from the birds' nests.) Those interested will be able to take part in the program with an additional canopy ticket, the bunny can attend it free of charge, at least for the time being.

On April 16, starting at 10.45am from the Ancestral Pine Visitor Center, the thematic tour will include the themes of the revival after the volcanic eruption, pandemic and spring resurgence, as well as guidance on the geological trail. (The tour is open to pre-registered participants (3.000 HUF/person), please send an email to ipolytarnoc@osmaradvanyok.hu by 15 April.)

On 17 April, starting at 11 am, the life-bearing primeval ocean, the former sea outpourings, the Pannonian Lake and the waters of the Carpathian Basin will be remembered by the shark pond of the Lombkorona café. The short event will be followed by a taste of Palóc Easter food in the café.

On the 18th of April, during the Easter Miocene tour, which starts at 10.45 a.m. the female inhabitants of the rhinoceros island in the Miocene forest will be watered as well as their trees. This gesture may substitute the pouring of a bucket water to the girls' head, a folk custom still practiced on Easter Monday at Hollókő. Ladies are safe to attend the tour, they can avoid that unpleasant experience here.(The tour is open to pre-registered participants (3.000 HUF/person), please send an email to ipolytarnoc@osmaradvanyok.hu by 17 April.)
