It is composed of a layered volcanic structure of pyroxene andesite lava, agglomerate and tuff, an accumulating material of several eruption centers ("Mátra middle andesite"). The amount of lava formations is almost 50%. It also rarely contains acidic (rhyolite, dacite) pyroclastic settlements. The color of the lava rocks is predominantly gray, dark gray, but red and green are also typical. Pyroclastics occur in all combinations from portuf to coarse agglomerate and are white, red, and green in color. Rock transformation at the same time as or after vulcanism (oxidation, fermentation, clay mineralization, chlorination, potassium metasomatosis, etc.) is typical. It makes up the majority of the mass of the Mátra.
