The European Heritage Days held in September are celebrated cultural event in Europe. The Bükk National Park Directorate also joins this international event and on the 19 and 20 of September 2020 it holds open days for the pre-registered visitors in the Miocene Park of the Ipolytarnóc Fossils.
On these days, from 9 am to 5 pm, staying in the area, visiting the exhibitions of the Ancient Pine Visitor Centre, the shelter of the Bükkábrány Trees and the Miocene Forest are free for those, who have pre-registered.
On September 19, 2020, you can also sign up for the guided tour to the exhibitions of the Novohrad-Nógrád UNESCO Global Geopark and of the Prehistoric Pompeii. The guide also covers the discovery of the world-famous footprints happened 120 years ago.
On September 20, 2020, the guided tour will start next to the Bükkábrány Trees, covering the remains of the Lower Miocene and the myths associated with the fossils, as well as the historical curiosities related to the research of the site. At the same time, it will have an outlook to some of the main cultural siteseeings of the transnational, crossborder Geopark, including the Ancient Village and the Casle of Hollókő WH, the Szentkút shrine and pilgrimage centre, the Kubinyi Museum in Szécsény, the Underground Mining Museum in Salgótarján and the Castle Hill in Fülek (Fil'akovo).
