It is formed of amphybole-biotite andesite. It is covered with layers of clay, gravel and sandstone, a few metres thick, the top layer thickens towards the west.
The raw material is suitable for road buildings, or as construction material. The actual quantity of resources: 629 000 m3 (DPapovcean 1994). Samuel Winter opened the site in 1867, for railway construction.(Schafarzik, 1904 says it was in 1878). 3500 m3 andesite was exploited a year, suitable for road cover, or making roads and railways stronger. There was a double shaft. The mine was shut down in late 1990s. It covers an area of 400 m x 250 m. There is a 15 m deep shaft in the middle, used as a fishing lake.
